Sometimes existing traditions really get it right, in spots here and there.
The quick answer?
‘Enlightenment’ (A BS TERM) doesn’t make you immune to suffering, it greatly lessens UNNECESSARY SUFFERING.
If someone holds your hand down and smacks your thumb hard with a hammer, you suffer bad.
But when you perservate about the event, even years later, you have magnified your suffering, sometimes up to 100 fold.
And this ‘heart method’ in Buddhism is just lovely. ‘Love’ breaks down barriers to experiencing things as they really are.
When the content creator talks about ‘skipping the great hunt for meaning’ —- he’s absolutely correct. When your conscious
rational mind ‘gives up’ and you see that you already knew everything you needed, even as a newborn, then meaning is effortless.
Sometimes, here and there, some Buddhists really ‘get it’.
You don’t need Buddism, you don’t need any Eastern or Western systems. Ultimately you don’t need Platonic Surrealism either, but PS
CAN help give you a boost. That’s all any good framework can do.
